What is CAGI, anyway?
You see the logo everywhere in the compressed air industry and hear the word CAGI mentioned frequently. But what exactly is CAGI? What does it mean to participate in the CAGI Performance Verification Program? And how can you personally benefit from this vital industry organization?
CAGI stands for the Compressed Air and Gas Institute. It is the leading trade association representing manufacturers of compressed air systems and related equipment. The Institute is governed by a Board of Directors, elected from member companies of all sizes, ensuring that both large and small companies have a voice.
CAGI is organized into separate sections based on product scope:
- Rotary Positive
- Reciprocating
- Centrifugal
- Air Treatment
- …and more.
Most of CAGI’s work is driven by these individual sections.
FS-Curtis is a member of both the Reciprocating and Rotary Positive sections.
In addition to the product sections, CAGI also has cross-industry committees that perform critical work:
- Educational & Promotional/Marketing Committee
- Standards Committee
- Energy Efficiency Committee
The Edge: What is the CAGI Performance Verification Program
FS-Curtis is a proud participant in the CAGI Performance Verification Program for our rotary compressors.
Participation is entirely voluntary, but it is very important.
Here’s how it works:
- CAGI uses a third-party testing entity to verify the performance data published on a manufacturer’s official CAGI Data Sheets.
- Compressors are randomly selected from those listed on the manufacturer’s website and tested.
- Compressors either pass or fail. If they pass, the manufacturer earns the right to display the CAGI Performance Verification Program logo on their materials.
Why does this matter? It ensures that the published performance data, the numbers buyers rely on when making decisions, is accurate and verified by an independent third party. To view FS-Curtis CAGI Data Sheets you can go to our website at: /support/resources/

What’s New? Isentropic Efficiency on CAGI Data Sheets
To help eliminate confusion and provide more explicit comparisons for buyers, CAGI recently added Isentropic Efficiency data to its verified data sheets.
A helpful video on YouTube explains what Isentropic Efficiency is and why it matters.
CAGI as an Educational Resource
One of the primary benefits of being an active CAGI member is access to a comprehensive range of educational resources for both members and the broader compressed air industry.
On the CAGI.org website, you’ll find:
- Industry terminology and definitions
- Guidance on applications, maintenance, and system design
- Information on system optimization and energy efficiency
- Technical articles to help support training and understanding of compressed air
